Dear Editor,
I feel insulted. I was watching YouTube, as usual, and a panel popped up in my feed, so I decided to see what it was about. It wasn’t a video, but an ad, pretending to be a poll. The choices were (approximately): (1) Yes, I want to join Pierre Polievre’s team, or (2) No, I’m satisfied with the disastrous Liberal agenda. Well, that’s not a well-balanced poll question, is it? But, having no more choice than that, I checked the ‘no’ box.
There was no option to elaborate, so the blunt obviously slanted answer was the least-worse option. I expected that would be the end of it; that the team behind this lame out of season electioneering would say, “We don’t want him on our roles, let’s go on to the positives.” Or, they might ask why I had given that answer. But no, I soon received an email saying, “Welcome to the team. Do you wish to contribute money?”
I replied to that email, saying what I think about PP; that he comes off like a petulant teenager who didn’t get the iPhone he wanted, so he’s griping about the election success of the other team. When he lost his seat in the last general election, I hoped the party would come up with a real leader, who would act as loyal opposition, and co-operate in guarding Canada against the malevolent government to the south.
I don’t want the present government to bull ahead without intelligent resistance, but PP is a sniper, not a leader. The reply to that email was one which repeated the welcome to the team message, and asked how much money I wanted to contribute. I noticed that it is a robot address, not monitored for feedback.
This approach is an insult to our intelligence, and reinforces my feeling that I will never vote for that party, as long as PP is involved. There’s no election in sight, so Conservatives, get busy being part of Canada’s government, not being a bunch of rude nay-saying party-poopers. Change leaders, if necessary.
