The Outaouais will see a substantial amount of money poured into it for the purpose of supporting development of local businesses, organizations, and transportation across a variety of sectors.
Over $20 million will be provided by the Government of Quebec for these projects over a five-year period. The money will go into the Regions Support Fund (FARR), and $1.94 million is available for 2017-18.

Those interested in receiving funding should apply to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy by Oct. 6, 2017. Only parties that fall within the guidelines will be considered.
Priorities for the region include the development of sustainable transportation options; the protection of the local environment, especially from the dangers of climate change; more cultural activities; the promotion of entrepreneurialism in both rural and urban regards; developing economic diversification; promoting tourism development; promotion of the agri-food sector; development of forest industry sector; and the encouragement of student retention while building a skilled workforce.
Applicants that will be considered include municipal, non-profit and educational organizations; businesses in the private or social economies; cooperatives; aboriginal communities; and legal entities looking to start a private or social economy business. Businesses and cooperatives of the financial sector will not be considered.
The committee overlooking the selection process is comprised of the four wardens of the Outaouais region, the mayor of Gatineau, and Stéphanie Vallée, the minister responsible for the Outaouais region.
