At around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night, police intercepted a vehicle on Hwy. 148 in Bristol for a traffic infraction which resulted in a seizure of more than 1,000 methamphetamine tablets and three arrests.
When Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers stopped the vehicle, they discovered narcotics and arrested the three occupants of the vehicle for drug possession. A statement from the SQ notes that while the driver and the front seat passenger cooperated, the rear passenger refused to cooperate, kicked the door of the vehicle, and was placed in the patrol car. Police say they seized nearly 1,200 methamphetamine tablets and impounded the car for 30 days.
The driver, a 35-year-old Gatineau man and the front passenger, a 30-year-old Gatineau woman, were released at the scene with a date at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse where they could face “drug-related charges”. The driver also received a $510 ticket for driving with a suspended license.
The rear passenger, a 33-year-old Gatineau man, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse on Oct. 30, where he could face charges for narcotics, mischief and breach of probation.
