The Pontiac Chamber of Commerce held its biannual event on Thursday evening at Cinema Lyn in Fort Coulonge, a networking event that attracted more than 90 people to hear guest speaker Sylvain Guimond.

Guimond, who holds a doctorate in sports psychology and is also a certified osteopath, has worked with renowned athletes such as Tiger Woods, Mario Lemieux and Greg Norman, and as a consultant to professional sports teams such as the Montreal Canadiens. The 90-minute conference was designed to highlight the entrepreneurial profession and define the right strategies for both personal and corporate human resources management.

Sébastien Bonnerot, President of the Chamber of Commerce, was very pleased with the evening, organized with the collaboration of Guillaume Boudreault, the MRC Pontiac’s new Director of Economic Development. The MRC covered a large part of the costs of the conference, seeing the occasion as an investment in creating direct links between the business community and the worlds of education, health and community organizations, which had also been invited by the Chamber of Commerce. Boudreault emphasized that the MRC has a key role in the stimulation of entrepreneurship in the Pontiac.

Bonnerot expressed his wish to see more young entrepreneurs start a new business or take over existing ones. He congratulated 18-year-old Tyson Ferrigan of Campbell’s Bay, who recently opened a barber shop. Guimond advised Tyson to always have fun with his business; that he had made the best choice in choosing to be an entrepreneur.
