The Otter Lake Recreation Association (OLRA) hosted its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday afternoon. Tara Richard, the RA’s secretary, said the free event is a way to get kids and parents together.

“They get to come out and run around,” Richard said. “It’s a fun gathering for them.”

She explained that, since the event has been going on since 2011 when the RA was founded, she’s gotten to see kids who participated in the event become parents who now bring their kids.

Candis Miljour is one of them.

“I have three siblings and we always used to come,” Miljour said. “It was getting to be together and doing the egg hunt as a kid.”

She was at the event with her two kids, Ace and Nox.

“Now it’s more magical because we see what my parents used to see,” Miljour said. “Our kids are having fun now, it’s like seeing it from a different perspective.”

The event included free hotdogs and juice boxes, an outdoor egg hunt, goodie bags for participants, Easter themed door prizes and a visit with the Easter bunny.

Richard said that the OLRA hopes to be able to offer more free events, with the next one coming up on Canada Day.
