I planted pole beans on the side of my house this spring. They grew up over the roof of the porch and gave a good crop. Sometime in August though, they quit. I did notice flowers on the vines but took no more thought than that. A surprise! Beans began to appear. I am still finding and eating them, this late in the year.
Sometimes, events in our life, like my beans, appear to have come to an end. Never give up hope. We don’t quite know how, but, in the midst of turmoil and trouble, there can still be life. Growth, unbeknownst to us is still happening behind the scenes. Change can come. But we must be open to it. Look for it. And above all, trust that God is in the midst of it, calling us to faith in His power to heal.
