Pontiac native Marie-Josée Corriveau, along with dance partner Jason Morel, have taken their talent overseas to try their hand at competing on La France a un Incroyable Talent (the France version of America’s Got Talent) and it has paid off. The duo received the golden buzzer from judge Éric Antoine, on the televised season 18 premiere last Tuesday.

For those not familiar with the format of the show, at the beginning of the season each judge is given one golden buzzer that they may use during the entire audition round, on one contestant who blows them away. Contestants who receive the golden buzzer automatically advance to the live semi-finals, bypassing all rounds in between.

For their audition, which was previously recorded, Corriveau and Morel performed their dance depicting domestic abuse that they had performed during the semi-finals of season 4 of Révolution last fall, which ultimately helped secure their win in the finals.

After their performance on Tuesdays episode, it was clear with the extended standing ovation from the audience and the looks on the judges faces, that it was an unforgettable dance, with judge Éric saying their absolute trust of one another and real physical risk-taking was intense, and that it was a gift to have them on the show.

He thanked them for their presence before pressing the buzzer which caused gold confetti to pour down on stage, surrounding a very humble and happy Corriveau and Morel.
