A man from Ottawa and a woman from Chapeau are facing drug-trafficking charges following a drug seizure in Pembroke on Jan. 21.
In a Thursday press release, the Ontario Provincial Police said the seizure came after the OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Alfred Street in Pembroke after the driver had been identified as prohibited from driving.
Police say the driver was arrested and that a search of the vehicle found more than 184 grams of suspected cocaine, nearly 22 grams of suspected crack cocaine, over 61 grams of suspected fentanyl, nearly 180 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, nearly 81 grams of suspected MDMA, as well as quantities of hydromorphone pills and morphine.
Both the driver, a 39-year-old man from Ottawa, and the passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Chapeau, are now facing several charges, including six counts of possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the press release, both of the accused were held in custody and were set to appear for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 22.
