The Bryson Lions Club hosted its second annual Easter Sunday brunch over the weekend to raise money to cover the club’s expenses.

The kitchen was full of steaming containers of bacon, sausages, eggs, beans and potatoes, and club member Bill Campbell spent the morning seated at the griddle flipping countless pancakes in preparation for the breakfast rush.

Once the rush was over and done with, the club tallied a total of 46 breakfasts sold over the course of the morning, which raised $344 for the club, and a 50/50 which raised $72.50.

Lions president Betty Leach said the club had to pay off a hefty oil bill of over $6,000 – the cost of heating the club’s building through the winter.

Leach explained that last year the response to the breakfast was positive so they decided to do it again.

“It was nice,” Leach said, explaining that the dining room was busy throughout the day. “We had different little groups of people coming in, families, little ones and couples.”

Leach said that it’s nice to see the club supported, but that they’re always looking for more support from the Bryson community.

“There are people who know about the Lions Club and they like what we do,” she said when asked about the supporters who come from out of town. “Most of them come for our dances and they always look forward to something we’re doing.”

The club will continue fundraising to cover their expenses at the annual sea pie supper in August and is looking at hosting another brunch in May.
