The kitchen of Bryson’s Immaculate Conception Church was bustling with activity on Sunday morning as the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) served up their annual harvest breakfast to a hungry crowd.
The spread featured scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, sausage and pancakes with tea, coffee and juice to drink – a winning recipe, according to acting treasurer Betty Maloney.
“People seem to be enjoying it, and we love doing it,” she said.
Maloney said the money from the annual harvest breakfast and other events goes toward the church’s operations.
“Our church is a very small parish, we have about 28 members,” she said, listing a Christmas basket draw, monthly 50-50 draws, and a Valentine’s Day breakfast as other fundraisers throughout the year.
“Any excess money that we have supports charities in the area, such as the hospital, the food bank, the fire brigade,” she said.
She said she expects the event to bring in at least $1,000 for the League – which she said wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the community who helps them put it on.
“We get all of our food donated, so that’s a bonus,” she said.
