The Wyman rest stop was full of red- and white-clad Canadians on Saturday as the community gathered to raise the maple leaf up its new flag pole.
Despite soggy weather, and even soggier footing, more than 25 people came out to witness the occasion.
The ceremony started with a quick word from Bristol Councillor Greg Graham and Mayor Brent Orr.

The flag pole was recently erected by the municipality, and those in attendance were careful where they stood as patches of mud dotted the landscape in light of the recent construction.
Graham said that the flag pole was erected at the rest stop because it serves as the entry point into the MRC Pontiac. He said it was a good way to show visitors to the region the pride that local residents take in their country.
Before the flag was raised, the crowd sang a stirring rendition of “O Canada,” led by trained opera singer and Bristol Councillor Phil Holmes.
After the anthem was sung, the flag was unfurled and raised to the top of the pole where the red and white proudly flapped in the wind.
Attendees then lined up for a Canada flag-adorned cake to mark the occasion.
