LUSKVILLE Nov. 20, 2018
A popular barbeque restaurant in Luskville was the victim of a break and enter attempt in the early morning hours of Nov. 20.
The perps broke a window and a door in their attempt to gain entry to the Smoke’N Bull restaurant.
The alarm went off and scared off the would-be thieves.
“Nothing really happened except that it screwed us right over because not only were the door and glass broken, but the cold froze all of our piping,” said Smoke’N Bull owner André Larocque.
Larocque had been spending time at his other restaurant, Ile Pho Bistro Vietnamese in Gatineau, when he got the unfortunate phone call.
The restaurant was scheduled to re-open on Nov. 27.
Larocque said that although the alarm went off, he didn’t get a call from the alarm company. As a result, the break-in wasn’t discovered until 2 p.m. the next day – more than enough time for the pipes to freeze.
He said a client saw that the door was broken and called police.
When employees showed up to open the restaurant around 2 p.m. they were greeted by police.
“So that’s when we found out,” Larocque said.
Larocque said the main loss of revenue wasn’t due to the broken door or the window, but from the frozen pipes.
He said that although the assailants were caught on camera, they were wearing ski masks and police have no leads.
“They got spooked by the camera,” he said.
