It was bombs away for the Bombers as the team captured the Bryson Recreation Association’s annual September three-pitch tournament with a victory in the tournament final on Sep. 21.
The Bombers, who were runners-up in last year’s A division final, avenged the loss in this year’s final against a hard-hitting Hitmen team.
“It was a big win,” said Bombers player Darien Routliffe.
The tournament featured 10 teams across two divisions. Other festivities throughout the weekend included live music, a BBQ, and the ever-popular home run derby on Friday night.
“It was very successful. I think the teams had fun, there was a lot of good ball played,” said RA secretary Shyloh Pasqua, who was in the booth calling games with fellow volunteer Tammy Davis.
Pasqua said in the coming weeks the RA will bring in Mountainview Turf to do an overhaul of the RA diamond’s outfield in preparation for next season.
“Funds raised from today will help cover the additional expenses,” she said of the work.
The B division winners were the Corriveau Family, who decided to re-donate their $500 cash prize back to the RA. The runners-up in the B division were the Walkers and Strollers.
The tournament offered two draws for kids who helped volunteer at the tournament. Mason David took home a gift certificate to the Chateau du Dollar Plus in Shawville, while Reid Kelly got a card for Giant Tiger.
