Staff at the Wings N’ Things chip stand in Shawville dedicated the last day of their season (Oct. 13) to raising money for Angel Tree, bringing in a total of $1,950 in sales, all of which was donated to the organization to help it purchase Christmas gifts for local children in need.
“Community support allows me to be able to give back,” said owner Sheryl Greer. “Even several of the members of the Thursday night car show showed up with their cars to support the Angel Tree. This is definitely a dream come true for me.”
Greer said the day was made possible with help of volunteers Sara Richardson, Amanda Early, Dean Boisvert, Nick Brownlee, her mother Isabel Greer, who helped by hand peeling the potatoes, as well as four employees, Chloe Woermke, Delaney Murdock, Patricia Egan and Charlotte Dowe.
“I am very lucky to have an amazing staff,” she said, giving credit to two of her employees who chose Angel Tree as the recipient of this year’s donations.
This is the second year the business has used its last day of the season to support a local organization. Last year the business donated $1,350 to the Shawville-Clarendon Fire Department.
