The MRC Pontiac, in conjunction with l’association de loisirs pour personnes handicapées intellectuelles du Pontiac (ALPHIP), will launch a new leisure program for those with intellectual and physical disabilities.
The program will run from July 18 to August 16 and will take place at the Fort Coulonge Arena.
The program is geared towards those with limited mobility or those with other disabilities and aims to get more people with disabilities engaged in physical activity.
There will be ball hockey, volleyball, badminton, soccer as well as outdoor walks. In the winter of 2018 there will even be a sledge hockey demonstration for our future Para-Olympic hopefuls.
In a press release, the MRC states that it wants to “encourage the people of the Pontiac to take solid action … to reduce the obstacles for social participation.”
The project was made possible thanks to contributions from Leisure Sports Outaouais and the Quebec Department of Education and Higher Education.
