Well, there is stuff to talk about this week.
On Thursday there seemed to be some kind of party in the park facing Front Street. There were people sitting at picnic tables where they seemed to have lunch then they moved over to the benches where they sat around. There was someone playing guitar and singing and they all seemed to have a nice relaxing time. I tried to find out who they were and what the occasion was but no one seemed to know, anyway they seemed to enjoy the park.
The park in front of the mural is due to be started this week so let’s hope it gets going.
The barbecue at St. Joseph’s Manor on Saturday was well attended. The meal was delicious and they had good entertainment. A lot of relatives of the residents attended and it made it a happy occasion for them. I personally found out that you can not do the twist with an artificial hip so we will leave that subject. It was Colleen Larivière’s birthday so they had a birthday cake and everyone sang for her. Very pleasant indeed and we hope they raised some funds.
St. Jude’s Mission has re-opened their thrift shop in Campbell’s Bay. It is downstairs at 134 Front Street.
This week we will be celebrating Quebec National holiday on June 24 (St. Jean Baptiste Day) so all offices will be closed Monday, June 26. We will be open Saturday and closed Monday as well.
We offer our sympathies to the Ranger family on the loss of Lenny Ranger.
Correction to last week’s column: Jos Morin had an appendectomy not gall bladder surgery.
Everyone should keep Aggie Morin in their thoughts and prayers as she will be beginning a round of aggressive treatments.
How about that storm? We lost shingles off our roof in that wind. Trees are down all over.
Tim Ferrigan told me about the adult ball teams that meet every Sunday at 6 p.m. to play. They have a canteen and quite a few people go to watch. We wanted to go but it was cancelled this week due to the storm but we will definitely get there some Sunday. Things in the park are always fun and most of the time family oriented.
Well, the bank is on its last leg and it is closing June 29 so there is not much time left to make a switch.
Flower boxes have been put out on Front Street so it is starting to look and feel like summer. The mosquitoes are really enjoying themselves these days no matter where you live.
We, as in the Kluke’s, are having our annual family picnic this weekend and if I am not mistaken it will be our 34th year of doing this. We camp out at the family farm and enjoy ourselves with good food and music and yes a few brews and enjoy ourselves as a family. We talk and remember all the good times and the ones that have left us way too soon.
Well it’s time to say happy birthday to all celebrating and happy anniversary to those celebrating the best day of their lives.
A special birthday wish to Royal Dubeau who celebrated his 80th birthday last week end. Mr. Dubeau probably drove a lot of your children to school over the years as he drove a school bus for many years.
We send get well wishes to anyone dealing with health issues and hope that everyone is doing well.
Happy St. Jean Baptiste day to everyone we hope you wear your blue and white and show your Quebec pride. It is our province where we choose to make our homes.
Father Tanguay’s thought of the week as printed in the church bulletin; “When we are on our deathbeds, we are usually not wishing we had spent more time at the office.” Hmm!
