Congratulations to Eddie and Dianne McCann on 50 years of marriage, a milestone which they celebrated this past Saturday, Nov. 8. They marked the occasion with an open house celebration in their home, surrounded by family and many friends, good food and drinks. Wishing Eddie and Dianne many more happy years together.

On Saturday, the Quyon Community Centre was buzzing with activity, as the Onslow School Christmas Craft Sale was being held. There was a fantastic array of vendors on site, with so many options for folks looking for Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, or even just a treat for themselves. I had a great day at my Watkins table, and it was nice to see so many happy shoppers out enjoying the day. The Onslow Home & School Committee served up delicious soups, chili, and hot dogs at lunch time. Hats off to Stacy Johnston for continuing to organize this craft sale in support of Onslow School.

Despite a cold and snowy afternoon, a nice crowd turned out at the Cenotaph on Sunday for the Quyon Legion’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony. As always, Cal Cummings was the master of ceremonies, and prayers were offered by Father Christian Kakule and Pastor Patricia Power. Many wreaths were laid on behalf of community groups, local dignitaries, and in memory of loved ones. A light lunch was served at the Legion following the ceremony, where folks went to warm up and visit. It was a solemn and poignant afternoon, honouring those who have fought for our country and our freedom.

Birthday wishes are going out to Blake Harrison and Vicky Leach on Nov. 12, and to Bill Hamilton on the 13th. Happy birthday to Ray Cavan on the 17th, and to Hannah Dowe on the 14th. Best wishes to all who are celebrating special occasions this week.

The Quyon Lions Club will be hosting a breakfast this coming Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Quyon Community Centre. Come on out to enjoy a delicious breakfast and support the Lions Club. We are certainly looking forward to it.
