Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Rivard Chartrand, as he passed away on Oct. 6. I worked with Rivard at Mountainview years ago, and I remember him as such a nice man. Our thoughts are with his wife and children at this sad time.

Heartfelt condolences are also going out to the loved ones of Darlene Mulligan Bronson, as she passed away on Oct. 12. We are thinking of her son Johnny, daughter Colleen, brother Ambrose, and their families as they grieve.

Congratulations to Jason Meranger and Sandie Martel, as they were married on Oct. 11 at the Quyon Community Centre. They were surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated saying “I do”. Wishing Jason and Sandie all the best as they begin this new chapter as husband and wife.

On Sat., Oct. 18, a bus departed the Quyon Legion with a great gang aboard, and they headed to TD Place in Ottawa to cheer on the Ottawa Redblacks as they took on the Montreal Alouettes. Unfortunately, the home team didn’t get the win, but everyone had a terrific time. Kudos to the Legion for organizing this fun outing.

Belated birthday wishes are going out to Luna Watson, as she celebrated on the 16th, and to Henry Timpson on the 17th. We also have birthday wishes going out to Rilen Richardson on the 26th, to Louisa MacKechnie, turning three on the 27th, and to Paisley Thomson on the 28th. Best wishes to everyone celebrating special occasions this week.

This coming Saturday, the Quyon Lions Club will be hosting the annual Car Rally, which so many of us look forward to every year. I can’t wait to hit the back roads and search for answers and clues related to this year’s theme, which is “Happy 150th Birthday Quyon!” Good luck to all of the teams who will be competing on Saturday.

After the Car Rally, Gavan’s Hotel will be hosting their annual Halloween party. Entry is free, and entertainment will be provided by Boogie-Man DJ Karaoke. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be given out to the most creative looks. Halloween at Gavan’s is always a spooky great time, and I’m sure everyone will enjoy the festivities.
