Thursday evening, I realized that what had started as a tickle in my throat the day before, was a full blown chest cold. The night was difficult with both small amounts of rest and restless periods of coughing, tossing and turning. I awoke weary. I will never be able to go to the wedding of a friend’s grandson, I thought. Sadness. Friday the coughing was incessant to the point that my ribs ached and when asked how I felt by a friend I replied sick. Three friends promised to pray and one shared a package of cold medicine, something I don’t normally use. I believe in fighting colds naturally with extra vitamin C.

Friday night I slept soundly. I awoke with no sign of my cold. I went to the wedding and brought along a couple of friends. Prayers were answered in the affirmative. The cold had succumbed. I was completely amazed. Still am. I was meant to go and nothing could stop it. I don’t know yet why, but the one thing I do know for sure, I am not in charge and I believe.
