On Saturday, May 3, the Quyon Community Centre was filled with family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of my fabulous aunt, Mona MacKechnie. Her daughter Donna and granddaughter Kayla did an incredible job sharing with everyone all of the things that Mona loved, including her family, her hometown, her church, and so much more. We all enjoyed her favourite food, as Billy T served up poutine from his food truck, and we had the joy of hearing a few of her favourite songs, provided by the Quyon Girls, Friends in Harmony, Gail Gavan, and Rolly Bernier. We also had a group kazoo’ing in her honour. We really enjoyed getting to visit with so many family members and friends. It was a wonderful day celebrating a beautiful life, and I know it was a party she would have been proud of.
A beautiful baby shower was held in honour of Tessa (Young) Romain on Sunday, May 4 at the Quyon Community Centre. Tessa and her husband Chris are expecting their first baby in July, and we had a lovely time celebrating their “little ray of sunshine”. She received many beautiful gifts for their baby girl, while we enjoyed a delicious luncheon and fun games. Wishing Tessa and Chris all the best as they prepare for the arrival of their sweet girl.
Birthday wishes are going out to Annabelle Fleck and Kelly Stanley Hajdu on May 7. Happy birthday to Adelei Rusenstrom on May 9, to Griffin Fraser and Debbie Hudson on the 10th, and to Brandon Albert and Adam Bernier on the 11th. Birthday wishes are also going out to Sara Beer-Dowe on the 12th, and to my aunt Marion Draper on the 13th. Blessings to all who are celebrating special occasions this week.
This past weekend, Homegrown Garden Centre opened for the season, and I hear Lindsay and Ryan had a wonderfully busy opening weekend. They have such a beautiful selection of flowers and vegetable plants, there is something for everyone. Here’s hoping they continue to have another fantastic season.
With Mother’s Day approaching this Sunday, I’d like to wish all of the beautiful moms in my life a very Happy Mother’s Day. I hope you all get to put your feet up and relax while your families spoil you.
