The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is asking the public’s assistance in two seperate cases, according to press releases published at the beginning of March.
In a Mar. 6 release, the SQ requested assistance identifying two individuals linked to an instance of fraud committed in Shawville on Dec. 12, 2024.
The two individuals are suspected to have taken a debit card lost by a woman, then used the card to make purchases in two stores, according to an SQ press release.
The release describes the suspects as a man, between the ages of 30 and 45, who wore a dark toque and clothing on the day of the fraud, and a woman of approximately the same age, who also wore a dark toque, dark clothing and glasses.
SQ communications person Sgt. Marc Tessier said police are not able to say at this time which stores were involved, nor how much money was spent on the card.
“These are all elements being investigated,” he said.
“The investigators still have work to do, and when they are able to identify the persons they will make that information public.”
Any information potentially identifying these individuals can be communicated confidentially to the SQ criminal information centre at 1-800-659-4264.

Miness was last seen on Dec. 4 in Kazabazua and was on foot, according to the release which also noted those close to Miness have reason to fear for his health and safety.
Sometimes called Junior Miness, he is about six feet tall, 180 lbs, has black hair and brown eyes. According to the press release, he could be wearing dark blue jeans or green camouflage cargo pants, a dark winter jacket, as well as white sneakers or brown shoes.
