To whom it may concern,
I’d like to stay anonymous, to protect the parties involved in this situation. Recently my family has had their medical information (the result of a COVID test) shared with the public. That information is meant to . . .
stay within the health care system. For a long time now there has been medical information being shared with people outside of the health care system in the Pontiac area. When you put your trust in doctors, nurses, secretaries and find out that your medical information has been shared with others it makes you wonder if the trust should be there. I’m not looking at naming names to hurt anybody or get them in trouble, I just think that it’s time to shed some light on the situation going on in our health care facilities. In our case, the test occurred on a Sunday afternoon and people outside the health care field were contacting us about the result Tuesday morning before we had time to talk amongst ourselves. I’m sure we are not the only ones that this kind of situation has happened to. I know we live in a small community and word travels fast but there has to be a line that shouldn’t be crossed. We’re going through a hard time already with this pandemic and shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of breach of confidentiality, having to answer questions because everyone is messaging you before you even have time to figure things out.
People can make their own decisions and don’t need others telling them what to do, it’s is a free world and we can all do what we decide is right. You do you, I’ll do me.
This is the first time I’ve written something like this to a paper, all I ask is that it should be brought to light.
Thank you,
Anonymous
