Letter Response to article and editorial

The Equity

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to both the article and editorial where the editor is criticizing the MRC Pontiac for the time it has taken to publish the names of committee members who sit on official MRC committees.

He seems to be questioning . . .

the integrity and transparency of the process.

In this term as warden, I have made it a priority to increase the transparency of the MRC Pontiac.

It is the first time that the MRC Pontiac has listed this information. Prior to releasing the information, it was decided by our Director General to ask if there could be legal ramifications to publicly listing names of the public without asking their permission.

The advice given was to gain the permission first.

As we receive the authorizations, we are updating the information on our MRC website. We will continue listing all official (approved at MRC Council of Mayors) committees in the future.

The reference to the composition of the Energy from Waste committee not being provided is incorrect.

I did provide the editor the information verbally, but will now list the members for the benefit of the public: Jane Toller, Bernard Roy, Regent Dugas, Cyndy Phillips, Kari Richardson, Thierry Raimbault and Colleen Jones.

The Pontiac will move forward to revitalization much better when we can all work together in a supportive way.

Jane Toller

Warden MRC Pontiac
