According to a press release issued last week, the newly named renewable energy . . .
company, Evolugen, formerly-known as Brookfield Energy, has donated $20,000 to the Maison des Jeunes du Pontiac (MDJ).
MDJ Director Stéphane Durocher said that the MDJ will use the funds to train and hire local teenagers to organize and run a number of sports-related activities and field trips, as well as to repair the organization’s transportation shuttle.
The release explained that every year Evolugen organizes an event uniting its employees and distributors with the goal of helping out communities in close proximity to their operations.
With hydroelectrical stations situated in nearby Mansfield et Pontefract and in Waltham, Evolugen decided to give back to the MDJ for its efforts of fostering a more active, responsible and critically-thinking generation of youth.
For Durocher, the larger-than-usual donation was very heart-warming, stating that, while all donations go a long way, this one will make substantial difference for the organization.
“It’s really, really appreciated,” he said. “For our region, it’s quite an enormous donation. Sometimes we get donations, but not like this … whatever the amount it’s always appreciated. But $20,000 is a lot that will go a long way in the community.”
