The Luskville Community Centre was packed on Sunday, as around 300 people from the region convened for the . . .
town’s annual Bazaar and Christmas Craft Show.
Organized by the Cercle Socio-Culturel de Luskville (CSL), the event served as a fundraiser for the organization while giving local artisans a chance to show off their stuff to the community.
According to the event’s main organizer Aline Séguin, the event was originally launched in the 1970s and, with the power of word of mouth, has grown significantly ever since.
With 18 local artisan-vendors on hand selling all sorts of homemade goods, from Christmas decorations to homemade soaps, the event provided a wide variety of products for everyone who attended.
A group of volunteers worked hard in the kitchen, serving a good old-fashioned breakfast, doling out hundreds of plates of eggs, bacon and pancakes to the hungry attendees.
Others held a draw where they sold thousands of beer bottle-caps wrapped in tin-foil with some of them the keys to nearly 200 prizes on hand.
All the food on hand was provided by members of the Cercle Socio-Culturel, Séguin said.
According to a member of the Cercle Socio-Culturel Agnes Perrier, the event is a great way of bringing the local senior community together for a little pre-holiday cheer.
“It brings people closer together and to get to know other people in the municipality, which promotes us and also draws people who aren’t from here,” she said.
The event generally raises around $1,000 dollars for the organization, Seguin said.
