The Quyon Family Centre played host to a spaghetti supper drawing in a large . . .

crowd of locals to celebrate.

According to the Quyon Family Centre’s President Ashley Carson, the event takes place every year at the end of September and serves as a fundraiser for the organization while giving locals a chance to get together for a communal meal.

“We bring people in, provide them a nice good meal, and at a good price,” she said. “And we offer prizes for everybody, and we like to try to see people leave with stuff.”

Volunteers kept the food coming hot from the kitchen as attendees indulged on plates of spaghetti, homemade buns and delicious cake. All the food was donated, Carson said.

Thanks to a number of local businesses, a collection of door prizes were handed out as well along with volunteers selling off tickets for raffles.

With a solid turnout of folks coming out to support the organization, despite a lot of other things going on in the region, Carson was quite thrilled with how the evening played out.

“It wasn’t quite as big as a couple of the other years, but I mean the weather is not great, and some people don’t want to go out,“ she said. “And there is something going on at the Legion too. So but yeah, we have had a good turnout. And there’s been a lot of people have already left.”

The event raises around $2,000 every year and the funds raised from the event will go towards the Quyon Family Centre’s snowsuit fund, Carson said.
