LUSKVILLE

June 15, 2019

On June 15, about 150 eager kids and their parents attended the Municipality’s 5th annual Family Picnic, organized by Pontiac Parents of the Municipality of Pontiac (PMP) in collaboration with Group Action Jeunesse (GAJ). The rainy day didn’t in the slightest deter anyone’s enthusiasm: the Bouncy Castle was its usual hit, where damp if not soaked kids thoroughly enjoyed their outdoors activity, and the Municipality’s firefighting team put on their always-appealing show outside.

This year they went all-out, where their enthusiastic spectators were able to participate in an obstacle course.

Indoors? Kids were keen both to see and touch the critters from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, and following the endangered creatures’ theme, the Maison de la famille de Quyon had a special activity (plus prizes) concerning habitat protection. Also indoors, Funtabulous Faces created gorgeous, colourful face paintings where kids sported tigers, butterflies and more. Get Art instructors Tanya McCormick and Katharine Fletcher led art activities all day, as did Francine Roch with her fanciful critters created from socks, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners. To get everyone up and active before the close of the day, Sylviana Geoffray led an exuberant Zumba session, where little ones and their parents rocked the Luskville Community Centre.

Meanwhile, high-tech was represented by Fab Mobile de l’Outaouais’ 3D printer which kept everyone rapt, producing a variety of custom-printed items, from foxes to lizards to creepy claws. Daredevil Discs also kept kids delighted, and of course, a host of volunteers kept the entire day running perfectly smoothly. Zigazoom donated a door prize, as did Little Ray’s.

“I want to thank absolutely everyone for coming out! We had a lot of fun despite the rain!” said PMP President Sylvie L’Heureux.

“What a turnout, I think this was perfect timing!” said GAJ’s Secretary Sylviana Geoffray. “Everyone was so ready for some group activities and fun today! What a start to our summer!”
