On May 12, over 100 Pontiac residents assembled inside the Campbell’s Bay Lions Hall for a delicious homemade pancake breakfast to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Organized by the local Lions Club, the gathering provided residents with all sorts of breakfast goodies, including pancakes, bacon and eggs among many more tasty treats.

As heated trays of decadent dishes were laid out on a table buffet-style, people served themselves freely and ate as much as they wished, with more than enough food to fill everyone’s stomach.

For one of the event’s main organizers Frank Frost, the event is an ideal get together for locals to gather with people they don’t often have the chance to congregate with, especially the mothers in the community.

“It brings the community together,” he said. “It gets people into the social aspect. Lots of the elderly and that come and they don’t get to see people because lots of people work. So, this is a good spot for them to come and just be social.”

“We’re just giving back to the wives,” he continued. “They work hard too, so we figured we’d put something on for them.”

With the event being such success having sold over 200 pancakes and gone through eight boxes of bacon, Frost said the organization is planning on bringing it back next year for a second edition.

“We’re thinking of it,” he said. “This is our first year and it was successful so were thinking it’s going to be a yearly thing.”

All the food at the event was supplied by the Lions Club and the proceeds will go right back into the community, Frost said.
