Minor baseball teams from Quyon and Shawville took part in their first day-long tournament, competing across three age divisions on Saturday.
Teams competed from 8:30 a.m. right through till 9:30 p.m., bringing some impressive baseball action to the Quyon diamonds.
Parents, family and friends of the youngsters filled the stands, excited at the prospects of seeing local sports talent, especially at such a young age, on display.
This was the first year that the end-of-year tournament had been held in one day, adding to the excitement of the day. The weather cooperated greatly for the tournament.
Winners of the 7 – 9 division were the Shawville team consisting of: Georgia Bateson, Alexa Barré, Zach Brousseau, Jackson Dubeau, Lexie Gagnon, Sam Hayes, Gibbson Lang, Taytum Thompson, Walker Tremblay, and Chloe Trudeau. Coaches included Greg Hayes, Andrew Lang and Joe McCleary.
Champs for the 10 – 12 division were the Shawville team made up of: Paige Dubeau, Noah Hines, Travis Hines, Cade Kheul, Colton Mohr, Macaiden Narlock, Wyatt O’Malley and Emily Smith. Coaches included Evan Atkinson and Grace Younge.
The winners of the 13 – 17 group was another Shawville team, consisting of: Patrick Barry, Graham Beattie, Owen Beattie, Connor Gilpin, Ryan Lang, Alex Mayhew, McKenna Richardson, Amy Sheppard, Justine Tanguay, Monica Tanguay, and Grace Younge. Coaches included Trevor Tanguay and Roger Younge.
