Talent both young and well-aged was on display last Tuesday, filling the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church.
That’s because the music students of Kathryn Perry put on their year-end recital, playing a variety of instruments much to the audience’s delight.
Seeing five students perform at different stages in progression through the levels of the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), Perry said she was very proud of the group’s accomplishments.
“To see them mature in their music,” she said, describing what makes her the most delighted.

She further explained that her students continue to amaze her, especially as they take their performances public.
Each student played a few different tunes, as a couple showed off their violin talent and the rest tapped away at the piano, with one student soon pursuing their advancement to grade seven within the levels of the RCM.
During the show the audience enjoyed the musical talents of Gabrielle Paré, Sara Perry, Madeleine Paré, Hugh Perry and Nolan Wrinn.
Wrinn was especially well-received, as he was the young Beethoven chasing his grade seven.
Opening the show was another special performance, as Ellard Perry, Kathryn’s husband, showed off his budding violin skills.
Rounding out the show was a performance by the maestro herself. She finished off the evening with a couple of personal pieces that she had arranged.
Following this, awards were distributed, highlighting students’ dedication to their practicing, grasp of the subject material and performing highly at public events.
Kathryn marks 53 years of teaching music this year, as she continues to cultivate local talent.
She prefaced the show with a special dedication to one of her students.
“This night I’m dedicating to Nolan,” she said. “I’ve taught him since he was six-years-old.”
