The Quyon Legion was plenty full for the Quyon Lions’ Mothers Day Brunch on Sunday, where families enjoyed a classic breakfast as they celebrated the matriarchs in their homes. The event was one brought back this year after being missing from the community for a few years.

The Quyon Lions continued their collaboration with their local Legion branch on Sunday, this time hosting their Mother’s Day Brunch at the Legion.
Seeing many families looking to celebrate their mother’s special day, the Lions served up a classic breakfast as they continue to fundraise for their efforts.
“It’s a real good breakfast, we’ve got beans, eggs, sausage and the trimmings,” said Lions member Eddie McCann.
Seeing a steady flow of families streaming in, McCann and other Lions worked diligently to fry up eggs and sausages keeping plates full, and in turn, mothers happy.

McCann said the morning is a community fundraiser for the club, who’ve been without an official residence while the community centre is being rebuilt. Without their hall, the Lions admit that they’ve relied on the community’s support to not only raise funds, but hold events too.
“The Legion has been good to help with the Lions’ Club,” he said. “They’ve been very hospitable to us.”
While the brunch is nothing new to the community, it has been an event that the club has not hosted over the last few years. McCann said the decision was to bring it back this year and see how much of a turnout they get.
“We’re trying it out now to see how the community responds,” he continued. “It’s just a continuing way for the club to raise money.”
