LiveWell Foods Inc., the company responsible for a sprawling 100,000 square foot cannabis growing facility in Litchfield, has announced that the land purchase deal has been finalized.
The company has acquired 450 acres on which to build it’s growing facility and innovation centre.
The deal was completed on April 26.
The finalization adds more certainty to a project that had many weary of its prospects for success.

Pontiac residents have gotten their hopes up before about the Pontiac Industrial Park only to be disappointed when the promise of jobs evaporated.
The industrial park is located at the old Smurfit Paper Mill in Litchfield. The site has endured years of uncertainty as new ownerships continued to come in with the promise of jobs, only to fail to deliver.
One company, Green Investment Group Inc. (GIGI), was accused of scrapping the plant and selling off the parts.
The latest announcement by LiveWell comes on the heels of its planned partnership with Smiths Falls-based cannabis powerhouse Canopy Growth Corp. and the recent revelation of a $10 million brokered private placement.
All of these developments, which have taken place in short order, indicate that this project may have a higher chance of success than previous ones.
“We are particularly pleased to welcome LiveWell to our municipality,” Litchfield Mayor Colleen Larivière said. “A company that will not only boost our economy and create jobs, but will also make Litchfield a global hub of research and innovation.”
