I trust that everyone enjoyed a fabulous Easter weekend. There were several activities held in town to celebrate the big day. The Quyon Library hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for the children on Thursday evening and as always, the event was a big success and very popular with the kids.
On Saturday evening, Éric Hébert-Daly, the student minister of the Quyon Pastoral Charge, hosted an Easter Vigil for the Sunday School children during which they learned about the Last Supper, made egg holders, planted seeds, made palm crosses and helped make the bread for communion the next morning.
Easter Sunday was a beautiful day of celebration and I hope everyone enjoyed it. The Provost Family held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday; a much anticipated event for the whole family. So much work goes into making it a fun day for all ages and it was enjoyed by all. It was a terrific holiday weekend.
Congratulations to Emily McCann and Kurt Fraser who welcomed their first child on March 27. Their baby girl, Ruby-Anne, arrived safe and sound and she is just beautiful. Best wishes to the whole family.
A baby shower was held at Wesley United Church on Saturday morning in honour of Samantha Davis as she and her husband Sam Rodrigue are expecting a baby boy. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the upcoming arrival enjoying a brunch and showering Samantha with all things blue. Wishing Samantha and Sam all the best as they look forward to welcoming their son in the near future.
I heard from an old friend, Christopher Tracey, this past weekend. He’s thrilled to share that he and his wife Sophie and son Novak will be welcoming a new baby boy this coming June. The new baby will be an eighth grand-child for Grace and Lawrence Tracey. Congratulations to the whole family on this exciting news.
Many happy returns to Gwen Peppard who retired from office work after 50 years last week. Wishing Gwen all the best in this new chapter of life. Put your feet up and relax.
On Saturday night, a reunion was held at Gavan’s Hotel for former Quyon Hockey League players, scorekeepers, refs, sponsors, and fans. I imagine there was some great reminiscing and stories shared. I hope they all had a fun evening taking a trip down memory lane.
Speaking of hockey, the season has been winding down for our local minor teams and many of them have had memorable years. Special shout-out to the Atom A Pontiac Lions who claimed the top spot in the West for Hockey Outaouais, as well as the Bantam A team that took the top spot in the West for Hockey Outaouais and also were finalists for the division title. The Midget A team grabbed top spot in the West for Hockey Outaouais and were Division Champs, defeating the East, and they are moving on to represent SDMHA and the Outaouais at the Inter-Regionals in Montreal over this upcoming weekend. Way to go.
Belated birthday wishes are going out to Don Stanley who celebrated on March 30 and to Tyson Nitschke, who celebrated on April 2. I’d like to wish a happy third birthday to my nephew, Noah Young today and birthday wishes are also going out to Emma Hobbs, as she celebrates on April 8. Blessings to everyone celebrating this week.
If you need a good laugh, don’t miss out on the Absolute Comedy night being held at Gavan’s this coming Saturday night. The Quyon Lions Club are hosting the event. For more information, contact Paul Desjardins or Rolly Bernier.
