The Zion Lutheran Church hand their pancake supper last Saturday with a good attendance. Everyone enjoyed a great meal and again the potato pancakes were delicious and so was everything else. It is always a nice time to visit with friends and relatives who we have not seen in a while.
Last Wednesday, my husband Tom had the misfortune of falling down the stairs after taking a weak turn. He spent four days in the Pembroke Hospital. He also has pneumonia which was probably why he got weak. When he was released from Hospital Saturday afternoon the doctor said that the antibiotics were working well. It is going to take a couple of weeks for the scrapes and bruises to disappear.
We had cold weather for Easter weekend with a lot of wind. Good Friday was also windy in Pembroke, Ont. The saying is that whatever the wind is on Good Friday it will last for 40 days up until Accession day in May.
This week is supposed to stay cold and maybe there will even be snow. Allison Corrigan was saying he remembers in 1997 there was a snowstorm on April 6 and that part of the Portage Road was even blocked for a while. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.
It looks like Johnson Lake won’t be open for a while. The night are very cold. I guess for maple syrup we need cold nights and sunny days. There are a few people making syrup around here and next door we see them boiling so they must be getting some sap but when the wind is too cold it keeps the sap from running.
Happy birthday to Myrna Palmer who celebrates April 5, to Jonathan Hitz who celebrates April 9, to Edward Rusenstrom on April 5 and to Hailey Hodgins on April 10.
I hope everyone had a happy Easter and don’t forget to give me a call if you have something you would like in my column.
