Families hopped over from Pembroke, Petawawa and even up from Ottawa to participate in the Chutes Coulonge Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.
Complete with face painting, food and plenty of plastic eggs to fill more than a few baskets, kids had the freedom to enjoy all sorts of activities at the annual event.
“We’ve had lots of the turnout come from Petawawa and Pembroke,” said Dennis Blaedow, a member of the park’s board of directors.
Just a bit after noon on March 31, the park had seen over a hundred people attend the fun, with plenty more expected as the day ran through till 4 p.m.

Kids appeared most eager to take part in the egg hunt, where they’d wait in groups to search high and low to load up their baskets. With eggs tossed everywhere, from in the snow to up in trees and amongst bushes, little ones had plenty to strive for, with a special bag of treats to trade their eggs for once they had finished up.
Elsewhere, enjoying their candy, kids found fun in getting their faces painted in all sorts of spring-themed designs, all the while sipping hot chocolate.
Blaedow said the park had received a lot of attention from families beyond the Pontiac in anticipation of their egg hunt, and that he was expecting a large crowd up from Ottawa in the mid-afternoon.
He continued to say that he plans to work more events into the activity for next year, to provide entertainment for the entire family.
“Next year we’ll have some more events, a spring fever or something similar for the adults,” said Blaedow.
