I hope everyone enjoyed a fun St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday. The young women of the Quyon Pastoral Charge hosted the annual Irish Tea at Quyon United on St. Paddy’s Day this year and we had a huge crowd out to celebrate with us. It was by far our biggest turnout for the tea and it was a wonderful success. We also raffled off the Basket O’ Irish Fun, which was overflowing with many green items and it was won by Susan Richardson. It was great fun and we appreciate all those who came out to enjoy the day with us.
The Canada Day Committee has been running an online Facebook auction over the past few weeks and bidding came to a close Friday night. Congratulations to the winning bidders who were fortunate to claim a wide variety of prizes. Kudos to all who participated, either by donating goods and services to be auctioned off or by placing bids. The funds raised will go towards the fireworks and celebrations in Quyon this year.
Our prayers are with the family and friends of Peg Sheppard who passed away suddenly on March 14. Peggie was such a wonderful person, always making us smile and she will be dearly missed. We are thinking of her loved ones at this sad time.
Happy seventh birthday to Annie Schwartz on March 21 with love from mom, dad, Oliver and Fletcher. We also have birthday wishes going out to Brittany Ramsay on March 22, to Jared and Clark Hamilton and Tianna Young, all celebrating on March 23 and to Colin Christie and Courtney Stanley both on the March 24. Happy birthday to Kirk Richardson and Terry Hamilton who are both celebrating on March 27. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
The weather might have been colder than we’d like over the weekend but we got two big signs of spring in Quyon. The Quyon Ferry opened for business on Saturday morning and then later that day the Casse-Croute du Village also opened for the season. Both are very welcome signs that warmer days are ahead. We wish both the Quyon Ferry and the Casse-Croute a very successful year ahead. Happy spring.
