On my way to work each day from Vinton to Fort Coulonge I have seen at least 100 or more deer in the fields each day. Along with the deer there are also an abundance of wild turkeys. The weird part is that they are in the fields between the highway and the river and very few on the other side of the highway. It’s quite an amazing sight if you’re not used to seeing that many animals in such a short distance. And they are not shy. You can stop and look at them and they will not run away. They seem to know they are safe where they are.
The other night, coming home from work at 11 o’clock I was meeting a car and while I was meeting him I hit something on the road which I realized was a tree at the very last second. But I just stayed on the highway and put the brakes on and checked to see if there was any damage on my truck. I couldn’t see any damage but I decided to turn around and do something about the tree on the road. I put on my four-way flashers and got out of the truck to try and remove the old, dead tree but it was still too big for me to maneuver. Along came these two good Samaritans who saw me and stopped to help take the tree out of the road. I don’t know who these guys were but I’d like to thank them for their help. At least I could go home knowing that someone else would not hit that tree.

I would like to wish my grandson Tao Davidson a belated happy 14th birthday which was on March 18 also to Mike Stanton on March 20. Happy birthday wishes go out to Thomas O’Brien, Jody Crawford and Phyllis Sloan on March 21, Mary Lynn Lepack and Marc Racine on March 24, Noel Kelly on March 25, Robert Bertrand and Jimmy Belanger and Cindy Corriveau on March 26 and to Relics Leach on March 27.
I see that there were a lot of parties on the weekend for St. Paddy’s Day. I wish I could have attended some of the parties but I ended up with a 24 hour bug on Saturday and couldn’t leave the house. But from what I saw online, it looks like everyone had a great time so a happy belated St. Paddy’s day to all.
Well, just when we thought spring was here, winter set back in this weekend with really chilly temperatures once again. At least we’re not getting mountains of snow. I hope we don’t but March isn’t over yet and as you all know March came in like a lamb so it will probably go out like a lion.
We were all shocked and saddened to hear the news about the passing of Peggie Sheppard on March 14. She will be remembered for her special characteristics and her warm smile.
Easter is early this year and starts at the end of this month so I hope you’re all able to be with your friends and family.
