Congratulations to my aunt Betty Mayhew for becoming a great-grandmother for the second time. Also congratulations to her daughter, Denyse on her first grandchild. Denyse’s son, Darrell LaMonica and his girlfriend Chay Stone had a beautiful healthy baby boy on Jan. 27. They have named him Isaac.
So sad to hear about the passing of Rosaleen Dickson on Jan. 23. My sympathies go out to all family and friends. She was the editor of THE EQUITY for more than 30 years. Her accomplishments are truly amazing and you can read more about her journey through life in her obituary at Hayes Funeral website. Anyone wishing to share recollections of Rosaleen or her husband David is invited to write them in a book of tributes that has been opened at THE EQUITY office in Shawville.

My condolences to the family and friends of John (Sonny) Germain who passed away Jan. 23 at the age of 88. Sonny used to own the Bryson Theatre, the Forest Inn Hotel and the Voyageur Restaurant. He was well known and regarded throughout the Pontiac.
I would like to send out my condolences to Norma Sparling and the rest of her family on the loss of their sister Erma Thelma Hill (nee Sparling) who passed away Jan. 25.
We sure had a beautiful weekend with spring-like weather and beautiful clear nights. I’m hoping it stays clear for Jan. 31 so we can see that blood moon, Bluemoon and total eclipse that evening. I wish I had a good camera to take pictures that night but if any of you do take some pictures could you please forward them to me? I would appreciate it so much. This is the phenomenon that only happens once every 150 years so I hope we are going to be able to view it.
