I would like to send out sincere condolences to my cousin, Elaine Mayhew on the loss of her husband, Ken Burke on Dec. 29 at the age of 83. Ken was a loving husband and fantastic father to his three wonderful girls. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He had a great sense of humour and loved working in his garage. A memorial service will be held Jan. 3 at Calvary Baptist Church, 156 Landrigan St. Arnprior, Ont. at 11 a.m.
I would like to wish you all a happy New Year and the best in 2018. I had to work till 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve so I only visited a few neighbours and then called my sisters in B.C. Usually they called me at midnight their time which means it’s 3 a.m. here and of course they always wake me up which they think is just hilarious. So I beat them to the punch this year and called them. They were at Lynn’s house celebrating with some friends and neighbours.
It has been snowing a lot in BC and then they had a great big rainstorm. They’re really not used to all that kind of weather.
It has been dreadfully cold here but it is the same right through Canada, so we really can’t complain. We’re all in the deep-freeze together. I know my woodpile is disappearing quickly trying to keep the house warm.
I work Christmas Day so when I do I always play Santa Claus and pass out the presents. This year however one of my clients who has a nice round belly and a real Santa beard put on the Santa suit and played the part. I was Santa’s elf and handed him the presents to give to the clients. They had a blast sitting on Santa’s knee and thanking him for the presents. I made them a unique Christmas dinner and they were all extremely happy with the great day.
If anyone has seen a large white dog running around loose can you capture it if possible and return it to the person living at the golf course? Sorry, I can’t remember your name right now but I hope someone returns your dog.
