Well, here we are in a brand new year 2018. I sure hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed ringing in the New Year.
Our Christmas was absolutely wonderful. It began with our beautiful Christmas Eve mass at 7 p.m. Fr. Justin Bertrand celebrated the mass and the choir sang traditional hymns. This was followed by spending the night and Christmas morning at Rhonda and Mark’s. We opened our gifts and enjoyed a tasty brunch. In the evening we enjoyed a tasty turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
Mike and Jodi and the family came up on Dec. 27 and we had our gift opening and a lovely dinner with them. The frigid temperatures did not deter us, as the following day, we all drove down to Kanata, Ont. and took in a movie followed by a tasty dinner. Afterwards, Larry and I drove down to Mike’s and spent two days.
Our family from Cornwall, Ont. managed to come up and spend time with us. Although Mikaela and Ben came down with the flu it did not dampen their spirits.
We have really been experiencing a severe cold snap the last couple of days. One night when we were down at Mike’s, Alex and Mike were out playing hockey on the outdoor rink in Embrun for nearly two hours. That is what you call true Canadian boys who love their hockey. Over the holidays, we enjoyed playing board games and cards. Family and friends stopped by for drinks and treats.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Stella (nee Stahlkie) Lynn of Pembroke, Ont. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Norbert Lynn. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with her daughter Kathy Gerundin (Bert Bechamp) her other children, grandchildren, family and friends at this time.
Heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the family of Willetta Gaudette (nee Tierney), who passed away recently.
Warm belated birthday wishes are extended to Jeannette Gagnon who celebrated her birthday on Jan. 1. We hope that you enjoyed your special day Jeannette.
Jacques Pilon and Derek Grieve celebrated their birthdays on Jan. 2. All the best is wished to you both.
Tiffany Rivet is celebrating a birthday today. Enjoy your special day Tiffany.
Have a good week everyone. May the coming year be filled with God’s richest blessings of health, happiness, love, peace and joy and stay warm.
