A family of four has been left homeless after a fire broke out just after midnight on New Year’s Day.
Luckily, the family – along with their dog – weren’t home when the blaze broke out.
The fire started around 12:30 a.m. and firefighters were on scene until nearly 9 a.m.
The house was completely destroyed.
The plight of the family was made even more difficult with the fact that many businesses weren’t open because of the holiday. This made it tough for those trying to get them supplies in their time of need.
But the community has come through on short notice, said Tanya Cameron, who is organizing the donations for the family.
“I think we’re kind of ok right now for donations, we have a lot of people bringing stuff in,” she said.
However, the family is still in need of baby supplies like formula, diapers and wipes for their infant son.
“The next step will be helping them get back on their feet,” Cameron said. “[They need] somewhere to live, food, clothes, bedding, housewares.”
Anyone wishing to donate can contact Cameron at 613-315-4268.
