Congratulations to Sara (Beer) and Graham Dowe on the safe arrival of their newest little one, Amelia Heidi, who arrived on Dec. 14. She is a little sister for Charlotte, Daniel and Hannah. Best wishes to the whole family. I can’t wait to meet her.
Many happy returns to Andrew Hickey and his bride-to-be Shelby Crick who were recently engaged. They are planning their big day for summer of 2019. We wish them all the best as they celebrate this happy occasion.
The Kennedy family held their annual Christmas celebration this past Saturday at Donna and Ellard’s with the whole clan arriving to enjoy the feast, gift exchange and time with loved ones. Donna tells me it was a memorable first Christmas in their new home.

The Quyon Pastoral Charge’s annual Sunday School Christmas Pageant was held on Sunday with a full house in attendance to listen as the children explained the different symbols of Christmas and drew reference to passages in the Bible. The kids did a wonderful job. Well done to all involved in organizing and participating.
On Christmas Eve, there will be no morning service and the evening service will be held at 7 p.m. at Quyon United Church. All are welcome. Please also note the church will be closed on Dec. 31, with services resuming on Jan. 7 at Wesley United Church in Beechgrove.
The Quyon Ferry officially closed for the season on Dec. 13. Thank you to the McColgan family and staff for the great service. We look forward to seeing the ferry back in operation in the spring.
Happy second birthday to Quinn Young who celebrated Dec. 17 and to her cousin Adelyne Young who also turns two on Dec. 25. We have birthday wishes going out to Leah Côté on Dec. 28, to Glenda Nitschke on Dec. 29 and to Ruby McColgan on Dec. 30. I’d like to wish a happy birthday to my sister, Kara Young as she celebrates on New Year’s Eve with love from the whole family.
If you are looking for plans on New Year’s Eve, the Quyon Legion will be the place to be. They will be hosting a party featuring the band Flashback. There will be a light snack served, party favours and a glass of champagne for all who attend. Tickets are available at the Legion or by contacting Darlene Morris.
The big day is almost here. It’s my most favourite time of year! I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for the support throughout the year and for submitting news and wishes for this column. Thank you all for reading. It is so greatly appreciated.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your time spent with loved ones, and the many blessings the season brings. See you in 2018.
