It is with a heavy heart that I wish to announce the passing of long time Waltham resident Elizabeth Éthier (nee Burnie), our dear Aunt Libby. She was . . .
the beloved wife of the late Germain Éthier. She became a regular visitor in Larry’s home when he was very young. She was dating his uncle Germain, who lived with them for several years. Larry was about five years old. She had a wonderful smile, an Irish wit and a great sense of humour. He was a constant fixture with the couple and felt like she was part of his immediate family. Then life took a sad turn when uncle Germain died suddenly leaving Aunt Libby with two young girls and a young son. She moved from Portage du Fort to Waltham, where so many of his family lived. She raised her family here and became a champion of daily exercise by walking around the village at a brisk pace. She inspired many to join her and that tradition of good health through exercise persists to this day. Aunt Libby welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and loved a great party. She had such a unique personality. She had a strong faith and was loving and cheerful through all the trials that came her way. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with her children Paulette, Connie, family and friends. You will be sorrowfully missed and may you RIP Aunt Libby.
Birthday wishes and lots of love are wished to our dear Michael, who is celebrating his birthday on May 2. We wish you blessings of health, happiness, love, peace and joy in the coming year. Hopefully, we will soon be able to be together and celebrate your birthday.
