In the news this week, there are many articles relating to the ongoing struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in both Quebec and Ontario. Both provinces have reacted with plans and have introduced more restricted regulations to limit the number of people who can gather in private and public settings. There has been much speculation that we may be witnessing the dreaded onset of a second wave of COVID-19 infections. Let us all do our part to protect each other and hold this virus in check until a vaccine or treatment can be developed to deal more effectively with the virus itself.

As the heating season approaches, the Waltham Fire Services urges residents who are heating with wood burning stoves and furnaces to have your chimney cleaned and inspected before you start to use these appliances. Fall is also a good time to check your smoke alarms and replace the batteries in the battery operated models.
