We were saddened to hear of the passing of Vina Hearty (nee Cosgrove), of Pembroke. She was the beloved wife of the late Connolly Hearty. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Well it is that time of the year again, collecting the sap and making maple syrup. According to Gerry Perry and Ray Bechamp, the sap is running well this year.

This is Holy week and this coming weekend, Christians will be celebrating the Easter Triduum (three days). Traditionally, this is Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. Easter is the most important religious celebration of the Christian faith. For Christians, Christ’s rising from the dead is the ultimate proof of his divinity and his conquest over death and sin. This is the reason why some Christians refer to themselves as the Easter people. It will be so different this year, as we are self-isolating and we will not be able to participate at our regular place of worship. Thank God, Easter celebrations will be diffused on television and Facebook. Our families will not be able to gather to celebrate.

My greatest wish is that everyone stays healthy and safe as we struggle to beat this terrible covid-19 virus.
