I had a great week despite all the rain. Dave and Malu Campbell stopped in on their way back to B.C. after travelling to New Brunswick where they purchased their new home. They bought a duplex right on the ocean with the most spectacular views from every window. Now they are going back to B.C. to sell their house and pack up. They only spent one night with me but I now have an open invitation to go and stay with them anytime I want. What a great couple.

I had to laugh at Malu when she arrived because the first thing that came out of her mouth was that she never wants to travel with a camper again. The first thing they did when they got back was to put a for sale sign on the camper. They want to buy a travel trailer of some kind for their next adventure.

Then I had a visitor from Victoria, B.C., Lorraine Newton Lowe and her sister Elaine Newton McCagg from Bryson, Que. came for a visit on Friday. Lorraine had flown in for her mother’s 80th birthday. Never a dull moment with those two girls. They’re coming back Tuesday because we’re going partridge hunting. I know a few spots where I’ve seen a lot of birds so we are going to try our luck.

Now here is the weirdest thing. When I got up one morning I looked out my window and believe this or not there was a dead partridge outside my window. I thought I heard a big bang last night but I couldn’t figure out what it was. I guess he broke his neck hitting the window. So we don’t have to go too far to hunt.

On the weekend, I met this adorable lady from Ladysmith, Annette Burn. She came to get some pies from me and we just started talking. It’s so nice to meet new people and get to know them. We had a great visit.

It is supposed to be a nice week weather wise so I hope you can get outside and get your yard work done while it’s sunny and not too cold. I still want to clean out my garage but it always seems to get placed on the back burner. I think that deep down I don’t want to do it.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Lee McCoshen on Sept. 30, to Tina Dagenais and Penny Lemaire on Oct 2, to Terry Frost on Oct. 3 and to Cathy Meilleur on Oct. 5.

The next event coming up is Thankgiving. I’m getting together with other single people so we can celebrate together and not be alone. I’m hosting supper at my place.

Anyone wanting apple or pumpkin pies please order ahead.
