Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Nelligan (Sonny) Desjardins who passed away on May 23. Sonny loved to be with his family and friends and always . . .
had a smile for everyone.
I had a family of robins make a nest in the garage and I’ve been keeping my eye on them. Last Thursday, I went into the garage and I noticed that one of the babies had gotten out of the nest and was sitting on the nest beside the other one. I just figured he was getting too fat and there wasn’t enough room for him in the first nest. Then when I went out the next day I noticed that they had all started to take flight. By Friday evening, they were all gone from their nest. Then on Sunday, I noticed one of the babies landing on the wood pile and it seemed to have difficulty taking flight for a long distance. Then mother came along and she actually fed him on the woodpile. I never realized that the mother still fed them after they left their nest. They are still flying around from one tree to the next here in the yard.
It is so nice to sit outside right now with the lilac trees in full bloom and my snowball trees are also budding out in full bloom. The hummingbirds are everywhere and it’s almost not safe to sit outside at the picnic table because they fly incredibly close to your head. It’s almost scary because they fly by and you can almost feel the wind from the wings on your nose.
I would like to wish the following people a very happy birthday: Mike Bertrand on May 26, Jennifer Quinn and Jim Ringrose on May 28, Melissa Frost on May 30, Heather Romain and Sheila Hearty on June 1.
Happy anniversary wishes go out to Jenna and Keith Sauriol, Kelly and Maurice Beauregard and Nancy and Guy Larivière all on May 28 and to Stephane and Melanie Meilleur on June 1.
We had a COVID drive-by birthday party for Karen Stevenson’s 60th birthday. I had made a happy 60th birthday sign for Karen out of bristol board and everyone had a letter so, we drove in front of her house and everyone got out of their cars and held a letter up so she could read it. She really got a big kick out of that and wants to thank everyone for their participation.
I hope everyone had a fairly decent long weekend although we still can’t visit each other. Anyway, maybe the restrictions will be lifted between provinces by June 14 and we might be able to visit with our families after we get our second shot. It can’t be soon enough because I’m getting sick and tired of this. Yes, I know we still have to follow the rules and behave ourselves so we don’t make the virus spread but I wish everyone would follow the rules. That’s what’s so frustrating.
My cousin came up with a good slogan this morning for the COVID vaccine, “If you don’t want to spread it, then get it.”
Now Manitoba is going out of control and having to send people to Ontario. All I know is I want to be able to travel and get things back to normal. The quicker we all do our part the quicker it will get back to normal.
