What a busy week I had. I had a contractor here for two days installing new windows and doors. Then it took a day to clean up.
This past weekend, my cousins Freda and Jacques Dupuis and Ramona Dunahee came to visit me on Friday and Saturday. We have all had our second shots. My other cousin, Bobby Mayhew, came from Oshawa, Ont. and visited his mother Betty and Gilbert Sparling and then with me. This is the first time I’ve seen any of them in over a year and a half. I was so happy to be able to have somebody here to have meals with me and to cook for. Of course, we played all kinds of card games and did a lot of reminiscing.
With all this rain came an abundance of weeds, so I had to weed the garden and do all the hoeing. I must admit that all that rain has made the garden grow in leaps and bounds. There is nothing like natural rain. But too much of one thing is not good either. Now everything is flooding.
The temperatures are skyrocketing in the mid-40s in Western Canada and the United States and some of it is coming our way. Of course with all these high temperatures and high humidity it’s a recipe for disaster. They have already warned us of tornado like storms so we all must be prepared.
Make sure you have jugs of water, batteries, a radio, candles and a food supply in the basement someplace. A first aid kit would probably be handy too. I don’t want to scare anybody but it’s better to be ready just in case. We are not used to having that type of weather in Canada but it seems to be happening more often in our area.
I would like to send out happy birthday wishes to the following people: Joe Ranger and André Dagenais on June 30, to Fern Dagenais on July 1, to Kim McCoshen and Alyssa McCoshen, Guy Larivière, and Sandra Kelly on July 2, to Howard Hodgins on July 4, to Alisha Corriveau and Murielle Graveline on July 5 and to Lucy Bertrand on July 6.
Happy July 1 to everyone. I hope you are able to celebrate wherever you are. Stay safe.
