It has been a while since I last wrote an article and I’m sorry for the absence. My sister, Norma, was in a severe accident in B.C. The lady who was driving was . . .
killed and on top of the eight broken ribs and sternum, Norma was in mourning for the loss of her friend Dot, on April 22, 2020. She was in the hospital for two weeks and I had to go to take care of her. So I was there for two months and I really didn’t want anyone knowing that I was gone. I had lots to talk about but had to keep a low profile.
Thanks to my wonderful neighbours in Vinton for taking care of my house and lawn. I have to thank Jennifer Donelly for mowing the lawn, Karen Stevenson for watering my plants and taking care of the mail, Jerry Pepin for all the maintenance work he did. Maurice Pepin for tilling my garden. I’m so blessed to have such wonderful, kind and thoughtful friends. A million thanks to you all.
I should also thank my cousin Cheryl Mayhew and Dennis for taking me to the airport and picking me up. They also kept my truck in their yard for two months and went out and bought me groceries and had them in the truck for me so I could go straight home. I had to quarantine for two weeks again.
Norma is recovering and getting her lung capacity back. It didn’t stop her from doing things every day. Nothing stops her from pressing on. We did a lot of yard work together. We seeded the lawn, made raised gardens, planted raspberry, rhubarb, perennials, annuals, trees, etc. Every day we kept ourselves busy and when we took breaks we would challenge each other to a game of rummy-Q.
I would like to send out my deepest sympathies to my cousin Betty and Earl Mayhew on the loss of their son, Eddie Dagenais, who passed away June 23. It was such a shock to us all.
My condolences to Linda and Kristen Atkinson on the loss of their husband and father. John Atkinson was well known and loved by all who knew him.
I am sorry to here that our neighbour, David Brown also known as Snowball, passed away. My sympathies go out to Mavis and all his friends and family.
On June 29, my Uncle Roy Mayhew, passed away one day before his 89th birthday. He leaves behind his wife Francis, and eight children. Roy was the son of Eva Dagenias and Mack Mayhew. He was the last of my uncles. I have one aunt left and that is Yvonne who lives in Victoria B.C.
We are in for a wicked heat wave Thursday and Friday.
The Picanoc got hit with a micro-burst that knocked out power for three days to my cousin Heather Boyd’s place. Still no phone. Be prepared for storms this week as this heat wave will bring about some strong winds and rain.
