Brian Brownlee, a Clarendon man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Shawville resident Darwin Zimmerling, will make an appearance in court on Nov. 17.
Police were called to Brownlee’s home on 4th Concession in the early morning of Jan. 18 where they discovered Zimmerling, unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the Shawville Hospital.
Brownlee was denied bail at his court appearance on June 8 and is currently in custody. According to Crown attorney Mary Claude D’aoust, if Brownlee pleads guilty, a date will be set for the preliminary inquiry. If he doesn’t plead guilty, D’aoust will ask for a trial date to be set, which she said would likely begin in January.
Proceedings will take place at the courthouse in Gatineau.
